The eviction of the shoe grease factory "El Oso" at the intersection of Eje Central and Popocatépetl has generated controversy. The brand, with a long history in Mexico, faced a difficult moment this weekend when it was evicted from its factory in the Portales neighborhood, Benito Juárez.
In the operation carried out on the night of Friday, January 17, the authorities of Mexico City intervened in the factory. Although the reason for the eviction has not been officially provided, the company issued a statement indicating that it was due to the refusal to yield to extortion from organized crime, unfair competition, and corrupt authorities.
The historic shoe product factory "El Oso" reported that its property was invaded and destroyed during the operation in the Portales Sur neighborhood. The company lamented what happened and emphasized that they did not engage in illegal activities that warranted the eviction.
The company was founded in 1918 by Prisciliano Pérez Buenrostro, who inspired the name from a polar bear that arrived at the Chapultepec Zoo. Since then, for over 100 years, the company has been dedicated to manufacturing quality and innovative products for shoe care.
Currently, 'El Oso' is not only recognized in Mexico but has also exported its products to several countries. The brand has maintained its prestige over the years and is known for the quality of its products and its presence in the international market.
The Benito Juárez mayor's office denied its participation in the eviction of the factory, indicating that they will monitor the case and lamenting what occurred. Meanwhile, the company has expressed its commitment to the quality and tradition that characterize it throughout its extensive history in the market.
